Nearly all of the Maine’s hospitals are already connected to HealthInfoNet and the remaining ones will connect
soon. About 98 percent of the people in Maine are in its database. About 80 percent of primary care practices
participate in HealthInfoNet, along with 23 percent of the specialists, Culver said.
HealthInfoNet can notify practitioners when one of their patients walks into an emergency room.
“A care manager at Acadia Hospital gets notified when one of her patients goes to an emergency department,”
Culver said. “She just gets in her car and goes to the ED to support her patient.”
