Maine hospitals are facing significant workforce shortages, with more than 4,200 positions currently unfilled, according to a new study by the Maine Hospital Association (MHA).
The report, Maine’s Hospital Workforce: Current & Future Needs, highlights the growing challenge of recruiting and retaining healthcare professionals amid a rapidly aging workforce and a declining pool of younger workers.
The study, based on responses from 27 of MHA’s 33 member hospitals, found that vacancies include 3,090 full-time and 1,137 part-time positions across various healthcare occupations.
