Spring Trustee Program 2020

Date: 4/30/2020, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

In light of the latest COVID-19 developments and CDC recommendations, we have decided to postpone our April 30 trustee education program, “Reaching for the Stars: Best Practices in Healthcare Governance” to the fall.  We hope to have a rescheduled date soon.

Now, more than ever, boards of not-for-profit organizations feel compelled to up their game. Most have mastered the basics of governance (e.g., overseeing audit and compliance), and they now want to use governance best practices. They study what stellar boards are doing, so they, too, can reach for (or become) governance stars.

Session Objectives

  1. Review the pressures on boards of not-for-profit hospitals and health systems in this era of health system transformation.
  2. Learn best practices in governance and how high-performing boards are assessing and transforming their governance structures, processes and practices to ensure excellence.
  3. Discuss the six core responsibilities of the board.
  4. Clarify the roles and responsibilities of the board versus management.
  5. Identify ideas for enhancing governance back home.
