For participants in the Medicare Program, Livanta, Maine’s Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO), is hosting a series of provider focused webinars for FY2019. The first in this provider education series will be a webinar centered on compliance with and best practices for delivering the “Important Message from Medicare” or IM. The IM is required to be delivered to all Medicare patients upon admission and again upon discharge. Livanta’s Provider Education Team will be presenting. Communications Director Jennifer Bitterman will be providing new staff members an overview of the QIO Program which covers appeals, complaints, advocacy, utilization review and provider requirements. Guidance on the delivery of Hospital Issued Notices of Non-coverage and the Important Message will be covered by Kim Storms, Livanta’s Quality Assurance Manager. She will also be providing training on Livanta’s new Facility Self-Monitoring Tool developed in conjunction with CMS’ Center for Innovation. Dr. Steven Stein, Livanta’s Medical Director will provide case review examples and a provider prospective on QIO interactions. Finally, Gina Westphal, Livanta Patient Advocate will cover how Livanta’s Patient Navigation successfully reduced  hospital readmissions and lessons learned from this pilot program.
